Request: "Stellar Cartography" mode

Post #1by Stefan Jones » 13.03.2002, 20:17

Sorry . . . I posted this to the development group by mistake. Reposting here so it can be discussed in the proper venue.

I think it would be great to have an optional lattitude / longitude grid superimposed over the entire sky.

Imagine a faint grid of blue lines, rotating as you change your orientation.

The grid could be centered on the local system's ecliptic (if known . . .), the Sol system's, or aligned with the plane of the galaxy.[/i]

Isn't this a little bit like the Celestial Grid -option?

Color me red. I found Celestial Grid last night.

I've been having so much fun exploring Our Corner of the Universe that I didn't explore the menu options thoroughly enough.

It would be nice if Celestial Grid had a few more options. Like orienting to "galactic" coordinates.
