This hosting thing is that a chunk of free space to put up textures and other files ?

If so how much space is available, to each ?

Way to go Rass. I was wishing that there was a sister site or an alternative to shatters.net. With all the work Chris is doing he just can't keep up with the outages and slowdowns that keep accuring. At least when the Celestia forums go down or are slow slow we now have a place to go. I for one think the site has great atmoshpere and you just got it started. I will be a frequent visitor thats for sure.

I set you up with space then PM you the information you will place in your FTP client...I personally use WS_FTP: http://www.ipswitch.com/downloads/index.html

Then you can upload all your files and even a web page if you like...I will be scripting a links repository on the forums for all user websites when they create them on the forum main index for easy access...Currently there is a User Downloads link there where the users folder can be opened and the files downloaded...

you really dont need to download this, you can just use your IE browser (if you have one), just type in the ftp:// address and eventually a window will popup asking you for your sn and password.

Yah can use IE's built in ftp but it sucks. Its so slow, you can the files faster driving to Rassilons server to get them. Another problem with the IE ftp is that it often damages files or leaves the last bit off so the file/zip is rendered usless and you have to it all over again. Use a dedicated ftp program like Rass said and your uploads will go alot smoother and faster.

I have that disabled...Very low security using that method and not recommended...

For security reasons I have disabled guest posting for now on my forums...I may upgrade the forum software to vBulliten sometime in the future to leviate some of the issues YaBB has...Any suggestions on something similar and free....which will allow me to convert the member list and posts would be greatly appreciated...thanks...

Well due to my instant disgust of the internet for reasons I will remain personal I have taken down the forums of which has nothing at all to do with anyone here or anything here obviously...I am very sorry I do want to do this again at some point...but I will still be considering hosting requests just as soon as things stablize with my ISP...Ill keep you updated on that...
