"Double" Sunset on Mercury

If only there were easy ways in celestia to go to a specific location and time to view these event...

There is for the Windows version, at least. (Not for Macs, yet; I'm not sure about Linux.)

A hardy explorer has to do an "add to Locations" when viewing an interesting event and then publish what was added to their favorites.cel. That doesn't provide appropriate time rates for watching long term events, but at least it's a place to start.

We're working on it . . . Christophe has created cel: URLs that contain a complete Celestia observer state--location, orientation, time, field of view, etc. If you paste one of these URLs into a web page, any Celestia user that clicks on it will be transported to the location. Currently, they only work in the KDE version of Celestia for Linux. I wrote some basic support for them in Windows, but cel: URLs won't really be ready to use until 1.2.6. This feature has a lot of potential; a few months in the future, I predict that this forum will be full of cel: URLs pointing to celestia phenomena, interesting objects, and striking views of planets and moons.

I actually provide either in the text or in the picture all elements to view these events with Celestia.
I also use the windows version. It is pretty easy to go to any specific location and time. But I agree it still lacks some user interface features that other planetarium have. Celestia is the best one though !

this would be a great feature for the tour guide...
