Atmosphere illumination in OpenGL 2.0

Two questions.
First, I noticed that the lighting conditions during twilight using the default OpenGL 2.0 atmosphere code on Earth are different than the lighting conditions I see with the naked eye. Is this on purpose?
Secondly, is illumination of atmospheres by two or more light sources in the plans for any future version of Celestia?
