I suspect Chris is the only person who really understands it.

Almost all of the rest of us are like you -- we hae to try it and see what it does. I agree that the description really isn't very informative. I haven't managed to find the module in the source code that actually implements it, either. (or that implement many of the other interactive commands, for that matter.) But I haven't spent a lot of time looking, either.

Personally I use Follow and Track a lot :)

Well from what I notice...the chase function seems to be a cross between follow and sync orbit...It moves with the objects orbit allowing you to also see it rotate and revolve...Other than that Im not sure...because when I use it on a moon or a main planet it seems to act more like sync orbit...but using it on a sattilite like the monolith or one of the space stations it seems to follow the object while seeing it also rotate...Would explain the name chase a bit I suppose...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

In chase mode, the velocity vector of the object you're 'chasing' is still in your frame of reference. The result is very similar to the lock mode if the eccentricity of the orbit is small (quasi-circular), it'll be very different for a comet for example.
