Atlantis Lost.

I have downloaded Mr. Jack Higgins' Atlantis pack ( http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catal ... don_id=272 ). The .txt file included states to simply drop the /atlantis folder in your /extras folder. I have done so, but can find no trace of Atlantis.

I have installed many other packs including Gemini, Liberty Bell 7, and Hubble and those all work.

I am assuming I am doing something wrong here. I ran a search here for 'atlantis' and can find no other posts on the topic. Any suggestions?

// One side question someone may be able to answer, but is probably not worth a whole new thread. As mentioned above,
I installed the "Liberty Bell 7" pack. The texture shows a white line that I believe is a drawing simulating the crack on the real "Liberty Bell". Was this truly on Gus' ship?

I've done a LB7 model with such texture (not sure you are referring to this model) and Tx to BrainDead Bob , yes the painted crack was on the real craft.

Concerning Atlantis I do offer a model, but again, not sure it's the one you are looking for. Anyway you can find it at CM. Now, for info, I'm about to release some new version, better optimized and with a more realistic cockpit, so a bit later the pages on CM will be updated.

Strange. It works fine for me.

The "Atlantis" and "Atlantis Cargo open" objects are on the night side of the Earth right now, so they're in shadow and thus invisible unless you turn up ambient light.

"Atlantis launch" is in sunlight, though.

If the lighting is not your problem, it sounds like the files might be in the wrong place.

http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... o.html#1.4
describes where the different types of files should be.

Remember that if the Atlantis was downloaded directly from Jack Higgin?s pages, he always put the models and their SSCs as separate downloads. So if if you (the OP) merely read about it on the ML but downloaded from the original site, you won?t see a thing without the second download.

I knew my models wasn't in cause here!
Now I'm curious about these Jack Higgins addons; what is the original site?

It can't be lighting. I've used the 'search' (Enter > atlantis {nothing found} )

I don't think it's a location issue either. Like my first post says, I copied the entire folder into:
/opt/kde3/share/celestia/extras
as the instructions state.

I have also tried putting the files into the individual folders:
/opt/kde3/share/celestia/models
/opt/kde3/share/celestia/textures/medres

Still no shuttle :(

I put the URL in my first post.

I asked for the original web site, not ML... Tx anyway...

After the discussion here, I downloaded and installed Jack's add-on just to see
what the deal is. After I unzipped the file to an temporary directory, I simply
copied the complete folder "Atlantis" to my Celestia\extras directory and then
proceeded to locate all 3 of Jack's models in orbit around the Earth.

There is an "Atlantis" model, an "Atlantis Cargo Open," and an "Atlantis Launch"
model, and the SSC file - which is included in the package - did not have to be
modified in any way.

If the model cannot be seen by the user, I'd say that it wasn't installed correctly,
or the user is not trying to locate the model correctly. Did you right-click on the
Earth, and try to select these models from the "satellites" dialog?

Just my two cents worth...

Thanks, Brain-Dead

I did the same thing as Bob and had no problems. The addon worked fine for me.
Asteroid I'm sorry but something has to be placed in a wrong folder somewhere. The addon itself is sound.

Well Reiko and Bob you were right.

I deleted the existing 'atlantis' folder, redownloaded and extracted the contents and everything works great.

*bangs head on desk*

Only thing I can guess is that the first download something got corrupted. *shrug*.

Thanks guys.
