I noticed that eclipse shadows does not work between objects that aren?t orbiting each other. Is this supposed to be so, or is it a bug? (1.6).

My understanding is that eclipses only work between objects and their satellites and is unlikely to be extended to objects in separate orbits until the next major release of Celestia after v1.6.0.

Right. Eclipse shadows have always worked only between objects and their satellites (and satellites of the same planet.) The new planetshine code works between any two objects, however, and I plan on applying a similar approach for eclipse shadows after 1.6.0.

Very good news! I look forward to seeing what sorts of light shows go on in compact multi-planet extrasolar systems o_O.
