A Thought For Celestia

Hi

I have an idea for a future release of Celestia but it may take a while to put in and won't be a quick thing. Anyway here is the idea.

It would be great if Celestia had some cool animations like Supergiant Stars exploding or even the birth of a star :) (but i think that animating a new born star is just a dream and is not possible)

I am not a person who has developing brains or knows how programs like this are built but the best idea at the moment I can think of might work with the supergiant stars exploding.

Take for example our Sun. It is 1.0 Rsun. We could merge the radius (AppMag) with time. Then for every (value) of time (sec, min, hour, day etc) the radius of the Sun would increase by a value like 0.01 Rsun or even 10 Rsun. However there would be a problem in that once the stars gone its gone! There could be a new button for Celestia called "Life Cycle" and it could have the options to be set on or off for a star (Yes and No). This would define whether or not a star would blow up after a certain time. Also another button could be added called "Life Cycle Time", where a stars Life Cycle (if turned on) would be represented with the values (Million,Billion and Years). Finally when the star expands its SpectralType and Colour could change but I haven't worked out how this would work. Personally I think that this feature would be best for fictional systems and also our understanding of how stars end their lives.

Guys this is just my thought and I don't really know whether Celestia could even support this so...

Beginning and Ending directives in the files can be used for this. I assume that the STC files have these directives.

If so, one could create an addon of a red giant puffing away its outer layers to create a planetary nebula and a white dwarf.

"Que?" would be more Spanish; in french: "Quoi?" Now as this language is supposed to be refined, you should better ask something like: "Auriez-vous l'obligeance, bien cher ami, de nous faire part de votre conversation?"
Anyway the above as nothing really interesting...
