Something terrible has happened! In 125pre7 ALL galaxies disapeared!
(I have GF 2, winME, det. 40.71). Also beggining and ending not works.

There is a bit inaccuracy in magnitude counting in Celestia. Chris, I think
You using factor of 2.5. Realy it`s 2.51 (I`m 100% sure).
I think ISS and HST orbits are out of date.
And one more thing: 2001 Space Oddysey addon is excellent, but
Discovery is missing. Maybe someone could ask Author of OpenUniverse
about this mesh. He should agree.

Chris changed the entry in CELESTIA.CFG to be galaxies_and_clusters.dat but didn't actually rename the file. I changed my copy of the cfg file back to galaxies.dat

Beginning and Ending still work in the simple example I wrote. I'll put it on my Web site in a few minutes.

(edited) I do believe that 100^1/5 (the 5th root of 100) or about 2.5119 is the correct value.

I suspect the SSC entries for the ISS and HST orbits haven't been updated in quite a while. There are lots of forces acting on them, so their orbits aren't perfect elipses.

I found a site with some reasonable models of the 2001 spacecraft. Unfortunately, they use .bmp files for the surface textures. And some need to be translated from max to 3ds format. http://www.strafe.com/2001/

BTW: The radius of Annefrank is 4 km (according to Space.com).

HST is >=579 km above Earth, so I think rater it should be corrected.
You`re right about galaxies, thenks again!
How about including Quaoar to default installer?
I think also about 100 additional galaxies or more in d. i. would be OK.
Don`t U think Celestias universe is too small?
About meshes: I think it`s possible to obtain excellent models of spacecraft from NASA. I`m in internet caffe and not have connection in home, so I rather can`t do this, but someone...

I think Annefrank is subject to "creaping expansion" as each set of reporters picks the largest possible value of the possible range mentioned by the previous set of reporters.

NASA's official news release after the flyby http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news94.html says Annefrank is "at least 6 kilometers in diameter" so I've updated the .ssc on my Web site to have a radius of 3km. They just say it's "darker than expected", so I arbitrarily reduced the albedo to 0.05.

I think the basic Celestia package should be kept small so it is easy to download, but that there should be an "official expansion kit" with lots of optional additions. Of course, then we get to fight over what should be "official"

Another idea: key-shortcut to previous selection. Hm?
