Add on nebula visablity

I have downloaded a number of nebula. I can turn them all off or on. What I would like to see is to have the nebula vary faint as a function of distance. You have this with stars based upon magnitude I believe. The reason I ask for this is because as I rotate around in the sky the various nebula are visible even when I am thousands of light years away. As I understand it they are very faint to begin with so it stands to reason that you would only see them clearly as you approached them. Hope this is not to hard to code. Maybe have it as an option.

This is a very good idea in my opinion...

You are entirely correct. The Crab Nebula, for example, can be seen clearly enough from Earth's orbit to also be seen
(clearly) from the surface of the Earth. Mayhap something can be done to tone down this brightness and/or clarity?

Or, should this be done in the definitions of the nebulae themselves? Just curious, Bob

In principle, one ought to be able to add a statement of the form
AppMag 20
or
AbsMag 10

to a DSC Nebula definition. Unfortunately, they are not yet implemented.

Okay, thanks once again Selden. Will add a feature request for such ability.
