Globular cluster generator help

Can somebody help decipher what these adjustments mean?
There are three and no matter how closely I follow the instructions it never makes a cluster in the shape of a sphere it always comes out as a cylinder shape.

R +/- default setting is 1.0
It says it is the distance index for scaling cluster size and increases with greater distance and recommends .1 per 3000 ly

D +/- default setting is 2.75
It says it is the declination index and decreases with distance and recommends .2 per 3000 ly

d +/- default setting is 0.5
It says it is distance index and increases with greater distance. It recommends .1 per 3000 ly

I never get a globe shape of star clusters going by those guidelines and have to randomly change the values until I accidentally stumble upon a combination that gives me the shape I am looking for.

When you get to distances in millions of light years those values get large and just crash the program.
