Newbie question: How to install updates

I've searched the forums but haven't succeeded in finding any direction on how to install pre-release updates. I'm currently running the version of Celestia found on the download page (1.2.4), but would like to get to the current 1.2.5pre6.exe.
Can anyone provide a quick heads up on the most direct/least risky way to get from here to there?
Thanks! MD
Installing new prereleases...

To install the new prerealeases just download the file you want (as 1.2.5. pre 6) in .EXE format and overwrite the original one, with the same name, in [Celestia Root] directory; of course you need to have already installed a FULL version, like 1.2.4. If you don't want risk, just make a copy of the original Celestia.exe file, but I can assure you that even if you overwrite it there is no problem.
Hope you find this useful, bye

Actually, you need to install 1.2.5pre4 from
http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files and then download the pre6 EXE in
http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/ ... .5pre6.zip The full 1.2.5 version is coming "soon"

Chris, thanks. I actually ended up doing what you suggested, but based on comments you made about having to install 1.2.5 in another thread. Looks like I guessed right. Everything is working very well.
Gotta say, this is an impressive piece of work. I just spent nearly an hour with my boys exploring the universe. They are absolutely fascinated, and so am I. An incredible piece of software.

Tried the link in your reply (to download pre-release 1.2.5) got an error message. Seems to be a problem with a LOT of your forum links! Guess I will wait for the "finished" version. I agree that this is a FANTASTIC Astronomy program and have already made several copies of 1.2.4 to give to others.

someone complained about the functionality of some of the Web links in the forum. The problem seems to be caused by nameserver timeouts, perhaps due to the Shatters.Net gateway being heavily overloaded most of the time. As a result, I usually use the numeric address instead of one of the system's names (
http://www.shatters.net = ennui.shatters.net = 63.224.48.65 ).
