I know there is a great number of updates for celestia, but trying to find them all in this forum means you'll have to search through almost all the topics in the entire forum, cuz almost every topic has a link to some site with an update or add on or texture or whatever for celestia. I have really lost track of them, so I'd like to create a single topic that has a short description of all the updates for celestia, so that in the end we'll have a single topic that gives a complete list of all the possible add-ons or updates and their locations.
Thus, if you ever made an add on, a texture, or whatever that can be downloaded, please post it here with a link.
And please no other replies than descriptions about the category(like stars, galaxies, texture, or any category you like), the contents and a link. I don't want this to become a mess (so no replies like: Wow i like this idea, or maybe this or maybe that), just post a link and your update's description.
To avoid clutter i'll respond here.
as long as you update it i don't mind the direct links to the files, but i don't know if you intend to check those links for validity.
But your site is very helpful though.

Hey billybob884,
On your site you ask us if we know about a better site host. I have one.
its: http://www.web1000.com
The only problem is that they also host adult sites for free so some adult site filters will block your site! But that is only a problem for people who use netnanny, norton internet security, or a different Adult Content Filtering Program.
BUT... THERE ARE NO ADS!!!!

This site may well be faster and there are no ads.
But is it really "better"?
After reading twice their explanations how they are making money with the site, I am not so sure...

I think Fridger was referring to the morality of using such a site rather than the technical advantages or disadvantages.
Whether or not that is relevant is a decision that each of us must make individually, I think. I'm sure we have many readers who have very stong feelings on both sides of such issues. Such topics usually start heated debates that come to no consensus.

Ah yes, long, long ago in a galaxy far, far…. (Screech) See. http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=601
Create a new project on Sourceforge called the “Celestia Universes Project” or something like that. Then have everyone creating or wanting to create add-ons register and check their add-ons into there. Why did I not do that? Simple I’m LAZY! Personally I would wait a little longer till the directory mess gets worked out. (See http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1076 Once that happens then the Sourceforge option become an extremely viable.

Morality? Not quite.
Read for yourself:
CONTENT SALES:
Another major revenue source that we get from
providing you with this free service is that
we can link to your site. Although no person
from our staff ever looks at your web site, we
do have software that checks your site for a
variety of reasons. That software is also able
to categorize much of your site content and put
it into an orderly database. What this means is
that we can operate a search-engine that is
MUCH MORE ACCURATE at pointing people to the
content that they want because that content is
hosted on our network, and we can actually
categorize the raw data. Without getting too
technical, the bottom line is that if someone
wants to find a very specific type of picture
or movie, we can point them to sites with that
content (and similar content) much more
accurately than other companies that don't host
the sites on their network. We plan to launch
this search engine in the very near future, and
we already have deals in place with Membership
Web Sites who are going to pay us to offer this
search engine to their surfers. (Again you win
by getting some of the best traffic around
surfing your site for your content, and we
benefit by selling the search-engine as a plug-in!)
