Increase error selecting stars with the cross hairs

Has anyone else noticed that the farther the star is away from Sol, the greater the selection error seems to be? I found this when trying to examine how far out the star data goes. I rotated my view to north of Sol and moved back until I could see all the stars represented (set magnitude to max). When I try to select the stars farthest out from Sol, I frequently get stars that are much farther in. I haven't examined the math, but assume that it has to do with the radial calculations used and that after a few Kpc the error increases to a noticable size (at least that is my theory). Has anyone else noted this behavior or can someone test it and see if they see the same thing?
