a few more suggested features

I had a few more ideas to pitch:

1) Maybe you could give the planets some interoir, so if you zoom in past the planet surface you see something other than twitching colors, or maybe just one solid color would be better.

2) I think I figured out a way for the grid on planets to work. All you would have to do is set it up like a second cloud layer, except instead of using a cloud texture, you could use a texture looking like a grid. (set this up for planets, circular moons, and circular asteroids)

Got some more:

3) Maybe there should be a feature that tells the user their current x,y,z coordinates

4) There should be a way to program certain objects to be selected when a certain key is pressed (i.e. Sol is selected when you press H)

5) I also remember someone saying that galexies should be just like stars in the way you can click and go to them, just wanted to bring this one back to attention... please claim credit for it if it's yours.

Sol can also be selected by pressing 0...1-9 for the nine planets....

Same with any extrasolar system..0 is parent star...1-9 is the planets in the system...

Chris, sometimes I like to advance time to watch the clouds go by
Or watch the planets spin......
and before I know it, I'm years in the future.

can you make a shurtcut key to quickly move back to current system time
maybe the HOME key or something

Please.

maybe so, but im talking about a little code you could put in .ssc files with a solar system that would be like
shortcut { U }

or something for when you NOT in the solar system

6) I would also like to see the problem with the night side lights fixed at least in the next prerelease, even if that was all that was in it.

 LOL I think you inadvertently found a bug! The key I think you are talking about is the “\” backslash key. But here is the problem, when you press it; it resets the time, but not the position of the planets. What good is that? Submiting as a Bug!

no offence but what the heck are you talking about? i was mentioning the bug that night lights were showing up half way into the day side and you come outta nowhere with some backslash bug. i'm just a bit confused...

I will try not to do that again.

Anyway... one more thing I was thinking about:

7 ) Fix the problem with the twitching orbit line when you get close to it

8 ) I remember asking in another topic (I can't remember which one) why the eclips finder only worked for certain planets and why it couldn't work for all planets. Well someone replyed to me saying that all the calculations wouldn't even be able to e done by the most advanced of computers. Well, then I thought, how about making an option window where you typed in a star name, it would bring up search results, and then you would check the star system(s) you wanted it to work for ("Sol" would be checked by default)

9) When you press enter, in the field that comes up you should be able to select galexies by typing in their name

10) Stars should have their radius not only in RSun but km too

I'd still like to see a function to adjust the brightness/gamma level of celestia, even if it's only a command-line switch.

i also found that the galexies are darker, but that isnt really a suggestion.

I have an idea that's a tangent to this one. Shift-# cycles through the satellites of the planet. (i.e. Shift-3 selects the Moon, Shift-4 selects Phobos, Shift-4 twice selects Deimos, etc.) The outer planets .ssc entries may have to get rewritten so the satellites are listed in inner-most to outer-most order though. And the "Change time to current time" would have to be moved (Tab? Shift-0?).
