Lost Comet tails

Hello Everyone, Long time no see. (long Strory)

Over the last few months, I have had a big change in my System.

1: I have upgraded to Windows Vista
2: I have changed from Nvidia to ATI
3: added the recent 7.3 ATI drivers.
4: installed the latest Celestia 1.50 pre 1 & 2 builds

Since this upgrade and especially since the latest 7.3 drivers... Celestia is running better than ever before.

But somwhere along this line of changes I seem to have lost all comet tails.
Comet tails are ticked in options window.

Can anyone tell me at what point in my upgrades might I have lost the comet tails from showing.

I'm sure that I have seen comet tails since having the latest pre release installed, as I remeber them being a bit squashed with some bug.
The last thing I changed in my system was the Graphics card.

To see comets' tails, they have to be near the sun: you have to set an appropriate date.

One of the recent corrections to Celestia has been to cause comets' tails to dwindle at larger distances from the sun. Out past Jupiter, comets are too cold for tails to form.

Oh I am Embarrassed, its a new feature I didn't realise had been added
Thank you Selden, now I have looked closer to the sun, 2P-Enck is fine.

I just go to Halley when I want to check comets by default normally.

I didnt realise the tails was updated, but they certainly look much better for it and no hard edges on the end of the cone any more too.

Welcome back!

It was me who did it...

In case you are interested in the details, have a look at my respective thread. There is even a Maple math discussion for the case of multiple star systems where the comet tail has to make a "decision" which way to point ;-)

Thank you BH and Fridger.

The Comet tails certainly are looking nice now, they seemed to be very squashed and sharp looking in Pre 1

And congratulation on Celestial Matters too, fantastic site.
