Hi fellow astrophiles and virtual space-farers!

what a great program. Many thanks to those who share their hard work and imagination with the rest of us. My kudos to Chris Laurel and all the other hardworking authors.

I stumbled upon Celestia only last week and I am now running v1.4.1 the basic install on a P4 2.2 GHz with half gig or RAM and 32 M of video RAM.

It seems that there is a lot more to Celestia than the base package and to really explore the SW's possibilties you need the add-ons.

Could you guys suggest/recommend to me some addons ( out of the bewildering array ) that would allow me to:

* Have a high resolution version of the Earth, its clouds, nightlights and high res version of our moon ?

* Have high resolution versions of all planets other and moons in the solar systems ?

* Have finer grained star surfaces ?

* Be able to observe the flares on stars ( or at least our sun ) ?

I have very limited download bandwidth available to me, hence I would appreciate some help and directions to be able to select and download addons in a more targetted fashoin.

Any pointers to get me started are appreciated.

Regards

Only one adress to begin your downloads: http://celestiamotherlode.net/
Then you will have to browse the forum to find some pearls that are not in ML...
