This should be considered as a release in the future, though it needs to work on Earth with its oblateness used.

Should definitely be considered a future update, though hopefully the resolution's good.
Celestia Origin uses an 8K Jupiter texture.

I have two problems considering the release of my add-ons:

1.) they are getting better every month, yes, the same ones

2.) I'm lazy to check the legal status of the textures (releasing or distributing them is NOT personal use).

By the way the Jupiter texture is 32k, upscaling is the main trick to get better quality textures.

I just learned the best textures are textures that can never be used.

The situation is not that tragic, but can be annoying.

This is the copyright status of the Jupiter texture:

NASA / JPL-Caltech / SSI / Southwest Research Institute / Malin Space Science Systems / Italian Space Agency (ASI) / Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) / JIRAM / Björn Jónsson

I mean, who has the time for this????

Well these textures should've had the copyright issues mentioned ahead of time.

Why, if a texture can't be distributed, it can't be shown? It doesn't work like that. A new picture is another piece of "art", which is different from the base texture. The problem is with the distribution of that (edited) base texture.

Yes and it would be better to just note everyone about the copyright status in the post about the textures in the first place.

The license allows you to redistribute the texture as long as you give credit to the original author.

No one said that, and as said above it's not true.

There wasn't a download link for the texture or anything, just an image of it, and he did provide the link to the original source.

OK, but as I said, I don't have the time to sort it out with every layer and every piece of image I used.

I think most NASA images are free, but you have to check this too. I don't have time for this right now.

Of course, credit is what's needed, and it makes more than perfect sense.
It's logical.

credit is always needed so a artist does not think you just stole there work

NASA base texture -> Gimp -> upscale to 16k -> G'MIC QT effects -> v001 Filters Generic Normal map -> v002 Colors Treshold -> specular map.
