Kepler-119 b & c - a hot Neptune and a hot sub-Earth. This system is interesting because there's a terrestrial planet farther from the star than a gaseous planet, and I don't think we know of many systems where that's the case. For planet b, the first version uses this method to blend the nightside texture into the dayside texture, while the second version doesn't.

I think we need a new Motherload with at least 200GB data storage capacity...

So after being on my Celestia hiatus, I decided that it was time to post a new pic, so here's a screenshot of Planet 9 (my version) in the recently released Celestia 1.6.2:

You don't need a beefy computer to take good screenshots. Just find good angles.

Publish at least on Google Drive. May be all these textures can be added to CO.

It is not ready yet and it uses tiles with 8192x8192 pixels. I think we should create a modern, competitive base texture set, distributed with Celestia (a best of collection). As I see it textures are "selling" Celestia, people judge this program mainly by the eye candy (at least at first).

I'm not sure if adding 200 GB to a stock Celestia install of <0.1 GB is a good idea though...

I agree, but 32k versions with better compression are a tenable aim...

we should keep the original Celestia package size within some limit. Well, for example, Google Play allows maximum app size of 150M, and we are currently at 100M now.

For larger projects, probably better to have a website demonstrating how to install the add-on, etc.

Yes, that's OK, but I think we should think about an automatic download option too. I mean there should be a "Small" version, but with the option of getting more official add-on data. We need a "Medium" and a "Large" official texture and star data package too. Maybe we need an automatic download option directly into the extras folder, for newbies.

I have just made it from a 14k source material. I virtually rebuilt the texture at 32k with a dozen filters.

Everything is clear about Jupiter. But what about the Earth, the large moons and the Sun?
