Thanks seldon,

I had read that but "much, much" seemed quite vague. Though seeing as jestrs 64k addons can be uploaded there appears to be quite alot of space. I may even upload some things myself.

The system description at http://www.ibiblio.org/systems/hardware-details.html
seems to indicate that they have 2.9TB of storage on RAID fileservers. I haven't found any public pages showing how much of that is currently occupied.

2.9TB! Hmmm, i guess you could count that as "much, much more". : )

Hello all,

Thanks largely to DonG's efforts, we have just created an info page about how to upload files and maintain content on our site. Hopefully it explains all the confusing stuff.

If you have anything to contribute to the motherlode, now is the time to load it on. Don't worry, we have plenty of space.....

Not sure what you mean. Your files are here, in the creators directory...

Hi John,
I just got your files compeleted last night. Some people have poitned out that you are not the creator of many of the files on you site. Did you keep any info about where you got the files? I ask because we dont' want to have two listings for a file if it's exaclty the same one. Any info you could provide aobut this would be extremely helpful. Cheers,

Joe

If the Celestia Motherlode artist could simply add a 'Celestia' title to it that'd be great. My artistic skills are close to non-existant.

Of course i can add a title for you!

alphap1us wrote:I believe this is an actual screenshot from a system he has been working on.
Yes, it is, although i have since changed the configuration, so it is not reproducible in Celestia anymore. The add-on is close to complete now, and will be released shortly: a preview has been posted on my site today.

alphap1us wrote:I am sure he would love to make a splash screen, but he is on vacation for a month and cannot be reached. You might also want him to come up with an original design.

Christophe, if you are thinking of a real splash screen for Celestia, i?d love to come up with something original for you... Or, if you are happy with the image you have now, i?ll add typography to it. Though that one is completely fictional; i feel perhaps that Celestia would be better represented by using real astronomical objects. What do you say? Hm, maybe use a PM, as this is a bit off-topic for this thread ;-)

I wish to join my congratulations... that's a great improvement, thank you ! Looking for a celestia's addon wouldn't give a headache anymore

But I already asked you for your last website to credit my website if you put a direct link to my website... could you kindly do it ?

Christophe,
if you are really trying to develop a startup splash screen for celestia, you might want to offer the sound of the universe as a starting jingle too?

The splash screen is already commited, it's just a couple of lines to add under KDE, the main problem is producing a nice image and rthorvald is now working on it :-)

As to the start-up sound, I'm not sure that it's a good idea. The splash screen is simply here to provide a feed back since the main window takes a few seconds to show up, the jingle wouldn't add much and I don't know of any program with a start up sound except games.

It's only a small goodie of course. Some programs have startup sounds, but you're right, usually you switch them off after the first 2-3 times. It's the story behind that sounds that's interesting sometimes.

Hello Joe, my little cent to Motherlode: due to the future increase of cmod files number (the speed is noteworthly better, so surely all the people who migrate to Celestia 1.3.2 will use them, instead of 3DS!), what do you think about opening in Motherlode a new dedicated page for them?
Later on probably there will be the need to divide it in various subpages, but now it could be useful to find these files in the same page. 8O
What do you think about this?
By and thank you for your very appreciated work. :D

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your suggestion. I am not sure how it will fit in with the Motherlode, since we decided to have the pages divided by add-on type instead of format. Also we only have I believe one CMOD model which went live yesterday.

If we ever get a lot of CMOD models, you can always use the built-in google search in the menu to look for the word CMOD.

Cheers,
Joe

OK Joe, you're the boss.
Anyhow there is not only the wonderful Hubble model by jestr, up to now there are many other cmod files,
immense- hole- dactyl- ida- baccus- castalia- ceres- eros- gaspra- geographos- golevka- juno- kleopatra- ky26- mathiled- pallas- toutatis- vesta.cmod
A lot, don't you think?
Anyhow, let's wait what the future will bring, and if needed probably you'll change your opinion. 8O
Meanwhile, thanks a lot. :D
