I have a question in relation to triaxial ellipsoids for solar system bodies.

It specifies the following:
  • SemiAxes specified, no Radius given: body semiaxes are (sa.x, sa.y, sa.z)
  • Radius specified, no SemiAxes given: body semiaxes are (r, r, r)
  • Both SemiAxes and Radius specified: body semiaxes are (r*sa.x, r*sa.y, r*sa.z)
This specification is incomplete. If Oblateness is specified for a planet, we must remember to include it for backwards compatibility.

The second line should read:
  • Radius specified, no SemiAxes given: body semiaxes are (r, r, (1-oblateness) * r), with Oblateness = 0 if not supplied.
Assumptions:
  • Oblateness is a floating-point number that lies in the half-open interval [0, 1) and is modified (say, set to 0) if it does not lie within this range.
  • The z-axis is pole to pole and the other axes intersect the equator.

Correct--the description of SemiAxes will be amended to include when I update the SSC properties page for 1.6.0.
