Is there any way to add a "Dwarf Planet" class?

General discussion about Celestia that doesn't fit into other forums.

Do you like the IAU's new solar system model?

Well, see for yourself:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definition_of_planet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_definition_of_planet

The gist is that it's holding fast, though it may need some refinements in the long run.

As a matter of fact, though I wholeheartedly agree with the decision, I altered the class definition on the porpurted dwarf planets in my 1.4.1 Celestia to "planet" just to diferentiate the pertinent orbits from the gaggle of asteroids on my extras.

That said, I would like to second the request for a "declareclass" option or also for a way to create a hierarchy of categories based on the standard categories available in the install.

Well, ok, this is a wiki... what I mean is is this resolution now is accepted by the professional? is there consensus? Shall Celestia reflect this resolution now?

You may consider, for those of us who use Celestia a sci-fi writing resources, adding an additional class for political bodies and boundries, etc.
