So, if nothing else, my hastily put together NewStaurnRings.png file got
you to re-start development on these NEW ring textures? Hee, hee...

GOOD Deal... Can't wait... Well, I guess I'll hafta won't I? :wink:

Fridger, what happens to the very first ringlets visible on those Ciclops shots? Will they be present in your final version?

I suppose you mean the ones furthest away from Saturn, right? I.e. the one visible on my Ciclops detail shot (image 2 from top).

This is an interesting point. Answer: Yes and no (for now) ;-)

The final ring appearance/brightness will depend BOTH on the new RGB texture (that does include those outer ringlets <=> Yes) AND on the transparency profile sitting in the alpha channel. The latter did not extend as far outwards, however. So the alpha channel there is black (for now), hence one does not see that peripheral ring structure for now <=> no. But this is just one example of several that require further tuning work... until the release of that texture.

Also, up to know, I only worked at half resolution, ~ 5500 pix instead of 11000 pix, to roughly match it to the 4k pix resolution of the alpha channel.
