No nebula on Celestia
Hi . I know it`s probably obvious, but how do you get to see things like the Orion Nebula? I have been able to visit most other things but I cannot get to see any nebula`s, which is a shame because they are some of the most spectactular sites in the sky. I`m a newbie with this program and am still getting to know how everything works . Thanks.
They're not ready yet... there are some nebulae add-ons available here:
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/
Extrasolar (Deep space objects)
I also recommend Rassilon's NGC 1999 and Rosetta Nebula add-ons but I don't know where they are.?

bh,
You probably overlooked them because the names aren't what you expected.
NGC1999:
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/V380.zip (34MB)
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/V380_patch.zip (3KB)
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/ngc1999_patch.zip (3KB; identical to V380_patch.zip)
Rosetta:
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/NGC2237.zip (700KB)
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/NGC2244-systems_i.zip (6.5MB)
The Rosetta addons are used as examples in

Thanks for that . No point in looking if there`re not there then . I downloaded
the real color earth add on by Shadmith from Motherload but can`t figure out
how to add it on , ( only been using a computer for 6 months ). Also why is it I can find files containing textures and photos in the Celestia file , but when I open up the same files in the program they are all empty?Confused!
I use a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop , Intel(R)CPU,T2080@1.73Ghz , 1014Mb RAM with Vista Home Basic

Goonster,
Even being an expert with computers won't necessarily make you an expert with Celestia
Put Shadmith's Earth.png into Celestia's directory
Celestia\textures\hires\
You'll then be able to see it if you type a Capital-R several times to see the higher resolution versions of the surface of the Earth. Type a lower-case-r several times to see the lower resolution versions of the surface of the Earth.

Although there are plenty of friendly folks here who'll help you out if you get stuck.

how do you install these? there are no readme files w/ directions
Ourselfish is using a Compaq Presario sr1536nx, with Windows XP Home 32bit, AMD 3200 processor, 512 MBs of Ram, a 160 GB hard drive, and
on board video graphics shared with system memory

As I mentioned, two of them are used as examples in http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... intro.html
That Web page should help you to understand how to install otherwise undocumented Addons.

Take it from me... You can almost NEVER just drag an add-on into the
extras folder and expect it to work correctly. I know, I know... This
goes against everything you see and hear, but believe me, it simply
doesn't work that way. You may have STC files involved, and from
what I've seen here lately and unless you know the creator very well,
this add-on installation method simply doesn't work.
I always extract my downloads to a separate folder, and then copy
each piece of an add-on to the places where I KNOW they should go.
Then too, I have multiple directories in my extras folder... I have one
for spacecraft - with its very own data, textures\medres and models
folders, as well as multiple other folders all set up the same way.
Got one for Galaxies, one for Nebulae, one for - well, you get the
idea...
If the add-on is from Runar though, you SHOULD be okay.

bh,
Ras' didn't provide any object named M4, although that's the name of the Addon. (I think it was just an oversight, though.)
All of its member stars are rather dim (most with apparent magnitudes of about 15), so you won't see the cluster unless you turn up Celestia's limiting magnitude.
Here's a DSC catalog to define the cluster's location. It's actually a globular cluster, of course, not an OpenCluster. Celestia has no explicit globular cluster declaration.
