What do you mean it "won't let" you do STC files? Do you mean
that you can't edit them? You can't use them? What do you mean?

Also, it would be very helpful if you could describe your computer too.
What works on one PC, won't necessarily work on another.

See my signature below for the detail which may be of importance
in a question like this...

Thanks, Bob

Pure_Goth_Fangs is having problems editing the STC files. From what I am aware, when they're opened with notepad and such, it shows random symbols.

Pure_Goth_Fangs, you may want to put your computer specifications into your signature, as Bob Hedgewood suggests. Go to "Profile" and you can type them in there. To find them on your computer, go to your computer's Control Panel (usually, Start -> Settings -> Control Panel), then click on the "System" icon.
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

Random symbols usually are indicative of .STC, .SSC wrotes within no-Windows systems. Simply open they with the Wordpad (nor Notepad) and click on the save button. After this operation the notepad is ready to read they and the symbols are vanished.
Never at rest.
