A Question of Genesis

Post #1by Greenmars » 20.02.2007, 06:15

I'm looking to create my own worlds and systems for celestia using my own extra solar speculations as well as new findings, such as Tau Ceti's Oort cloud, etc. etc. One, how do I go about this? Do I edit text or do I have to get a degree in astrophysics to plot the orbits? I assume I'll need a good image creation software program. Any reccomendations? Finally, how much of a pain the butt is it to create a new system? Will have have to spend hours entering in code for one little asteroid?

Not at all... if you're on win have a go with Rassilons cluster generator:
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/ look for generator.zip.

You will need to download the extras and texture packs if you don't want to make your own... look for:

gc_extras_v2.zip
gc_tex_v2.zip
gc_tex_v3.zip

Look forward to complete systems with asteriods, gas giants, ringed worlds et al.

Examine the code that's created. Then use that or have a go at modifying/writing yourself.

Warning! It's very addictive.

Welcome to Celestia!
regards...bh.
