Urgent Requests

Post #1by Andrew Newuser » 31.10.2002, 06:49

1) new option... toggle the effect of speed of light barrier. when reaching speed of light... red/blue shift should kick in. Also, light is bent around so everyhting should be in front of you.

2) random star generator for distant stars... perhaps it only kicks in when you get about 20,000 ly away?

3) SUN FLARES!!! sun flare animations? perhaps some kind of particle rendering thing?

4) are there any pulsars near earth? if so, how about including them in program?

5) new option... toggle "crash mode." put simply... you die if you crash. would allow for some mad piloting skills. I flew around betelgeuse at 100 times the speed of light... too bad it wasn't risky though.

6) pop-up dialogue box for achieving exact velocities. user should type in, m, km, c, ly, au.

7) script to produce randomized sun-spots. stars are kinda boring as they are.

8) some fun suggestions... ability to create, in-"game" super nova or gamma ray burst. could just be expanding circle with bright light at center. also, it would delete the star from the "game". i don't like calling it a game, but it's so much fun!

9) for powerhouse pc's, jetliner vaper-trail animations in earth's atmosphere?

10) "easter eggs" optional fun, (hidden), objects somewhere in the universe... just an idea.

11) ability to have artificial sattelites displayed as points so they use up less memory and don't look so big.

12) where are the nebulas? i don't know if there are any nebulas near earth... but i'd love to see 'em.

had to add two more things to my list...

1) gravity effects needs to be an option... it would be so damn cool!

2) TIME TRAVEL... nearing light speed causes time to slow down, and going faster than light should cause time to go backwards... this should be an option you CAN turn OFF!

It sounds like your trying to make celestia into a video game

don't foget this if gravity and effect of light speed barrier (something we can call -> jumping to hyperspace !) :

like Starwars, effect will stop and traveller will slow if there is a gravity mass near - entering a system... or if you set up an "Interdictor" somewhere in space *gg*

My reactions:

First post-

1) Let's get observation mode bug-free and working first. Then maybe a simulation mode may be possible.

2) No.

3) Possible, but may be a resource hog.

4) If he knows (or has a good idea) how they'd be rendered in 3D, it may be a possiblity. However, binary stars aren't even in yet. So don't hold your breath.

5) Maybe if a simulation mode is ever made. Until then, no.

6) That's does sound like a good idea... but how to impliment it?

7) Another possibly a good idea... as long as it's not a resource hog.

8) No.

9) No.

10) No.

11) No. They'd tax your resources just the same even if they are displayed as points. Comment them out or remove them entirely.

12) We don't know how they be rendered in 3D. They probably would be in if we knew. Until then, no.

Second post-

1) Someone already made one in the Celestia Development Forum.

2) No.

there's nothing urgent about these requests... i just thoutht people would read it if i typed it in capitals and wrote "urgent"

some of these ideas ARE stupid... but hey, doesn't anyone like any of these ideas?
