Nebulae and comet tails

Post #1by Werewolf420 » 20.07.2006, 17:07

Can someone tell me why i have nebula selected and i cant seem to track them? or why i cant see the comet tails even though i selected to view them?
I've stood out here for an hour freezing my rear off and all i got to show for it is a memory of the moons surface and the orion nebula

You certainly are aware that comet tails vanish beyond a distance of the comet of ~ 5 AU from sol. So I take it for granted that you selected only comets that are closer than 5 AU at the time considered? Hence what comets did you exactly select at which time that did NOT show a tail and were closer than 5 AU to sol???

Go and look up some dates when e.g. the comet Halley was close by and I promise you will see a loooooooooooooooong tail ;-)

As to nebulae, their implementation is still under heavy development. If you look for galaxies instead, you will most certainly be successful whichever galaxy you choose...

Exactly what Nebula are you unable to "track"?
Where did you get it?

Celestia does not (yet) come with any Nebula objects. The ones currently available are all Addons.

Fightspit,

Unfortunately, I see nothing at those locations.
I suspect they're pointing to Addons that aren't included with Celestia. You'll need to tell us which Addons they are, or provide URLs of comets that are included with Celestia.
