.cel scripts not running

Post #1by SupaShaD » 07.01.2006, 10:08

I'm using Celestia 1.40ED edition, and have installed the activities for 1&2 as well as 6. Whenever I click on an activity .cel file it opens up Celestia, then just sits. Nothing happens? I tried using Help > Run Demo but that just runs the same demo every time. Am I doing something wrong here, or can someone point out the controls needed to activate/start a cel script and begin the activity tour?

Thanks.

Globemaker. You really can't seem to get the hint.

You're clogging up the forum with your crap. Either straighten out and contribute as a normal person or get the hell off. Or, hopefully, Chris will ban your ass.

Supashad:

Celestia educational activities include several cel scripts, but they are not really designed to be experienced by opening scripts. Rather, they are journeys that are taken by reading, and following, the detailed instructions of an Activity document written in MS Word. That document is a guide through the journey and can be 30 - 40 pages in length. To experience an educational activity, you must open and read that document.

For example, Activity 1&2 - The Universe is a zip file containing numerous files and several folders. When you unzip the zip file directly into your Celestia-ED folder, you will find a folder inside it named, "Educational-Activities". Open that folder. Inside it will be a written document written in MS Word, titled, "Activity 1&2 - the Universe". Open that document, and you will find the complete journey - the tour of the Universe, laid out for you step by step. There will be background discussion and instructions on exactly how to launch Celestia, and where to go in it.

All zip files representing an Activity must be unzipped directly into a folder titled, "Celestia-ED". You also need the special version of Celestia 1.4.0-ED which must be downloaded from the Motherlode educational page website. You also need to unzip the General-Educational Download.

If this sounds too confusing, I have put the complete educational Activities experience together on a 2-CD set, which self-installs on your computer and which can be ordered from me for a modest fee (email me if you have an interest).

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Frank Gregorio
