I am in the US and I have been having problems too. Most of it occurred over the weekend. Right now things are running smoothly.

Hopefully, things are better today . . . The past couple days my connection has been saturated by Extreme Bandwidth Abuse unrelated to Celestia :)

I've been suffering general slowness, and several boards I frequent went down... maybe all those people downloading the Unreal Tournement 2003 demo? :D

you have been Slashdotted (a bit)

Celestia was linked in a discussion on slashdot.org, and because of it's many readers / users the site will be slower a day or two...

It was in a thread about a Demo disc of Open source - Software for Windows users...

The slashdot link is definitely the source of the slowness right now . . . 130,000 hits today so far and counting. That would be manageable, but a lot of the visitors seem to be downloading big textures, too . . . All this from a link on the discussion page. We're completely hosed if Celestia ever makes slashdot's front page.

Even my "poor little" Texture Foundry site is suffering: 1200 visits during the last 2 months and now another 1000 visits within the last couple of days.

Frightening;-)

Do we need to start a collection for a new server?
