Fictional Feature Request

Greetings to all!

I have a request - for an add-on - which might seem a bit unususal, but here goes: I'm sure at least some of you out tere are familiar with David Weber and the Honor Harrington seroes' of SciFi novels. Just how difficult would it be to generate some or all of the systems mentioned in the Honorverse, and/or is anyone working on that project? As I see it, the hardest one to model would probably be the Manticore Binary System, which is "supposed" to be a G0/G2 distant binary with three habitable planets. Lots of other details, too many for a post in any forum, but they are readily available on-line as well as in book form.

Just a suggestion. THe thought does occur to me that the stars, at least, may already be in the database. Mr Weber has not indicated which way Manticore is supposed to be in RA / dec, but he does say the distance is about 512 ly from Earth. So, if there's a G0/G2 binary at about 512 ly (I'd say +/- 15 ly - or between 500 and 525 ly, maybe) that would be a start.

Thanks to everyone! Celestia is a very good program - one I've had for a couple of years, now,, and I like its features.

I recommend it to friends who are into astronomy, stargazing, etc.

How about making the Addon yourself. They are really easy. You don't need anything fancy... If you have any questions, the celestia community is here for you. This way, you can make it the way you imagined it, in all of it's uniqueness. Note me when you've started! I would like to see it because I have never heard of this series...

PS, There are many tutorials of how to start making addons, see the Motherload for some sites...

I agree... you should definitely do this yourself, if for no other reason than to learn more about the program. Plus, it's fun, and in an odd sort of way, quite therapeutic!

But I wouldn't worry about taking too long; my advice is to take as long as you need, and take frequent breaks from the project if you need.

I decided to start simply. Mr. Weber identifies one of the planets in the Honorverse as "Beowulf", which orbits Sigma Draconis. It's supposed to be a temperate climate, if not a bit tropical, as near as I can determine. Questions:

Do I go for a circular orbit, etc.? I've tried looking for the definitions for Earth to use as a model, but can't seem to find it. Where should I be looking?
