1.2.5 prerelease 2
Another prerelease . . .
http://www.shatters.net/celestia/files/celestia-win32-1.2.5pre2.exe
Or, if you want just the new EXE to upgrade from the last prerelease:
http://www.shatters.net/celestia/files/celestia-win32-1.2.5pre2exe.zip
This prerelease fixes a number of bugs--unmoving clouds, black clouds with specular and bump textures, planets that appear square when viewed at a distance, the 'flickering planets' bug. The middle mouse button will now toggle a 45 degree FOV, and ability to control FOV has been added to the scripting system . . . for example:
set { name "FOV" value 60 }
I've also been working on comets . . . they're not perfect yet, but here's a sample image:
I'm still working on integrating Rigel's KDE code for the UNIX version; as soon as it's done, I'll post a UNIX prerelease.

Oh! wow, that looks awsome, Chris
Thank you very much, I can only imagine how hard you work on this
I will report back here soon to let you know if I find any problems.
(hopefully not)
thank you again.

RE: the Comet
Well I for one am impressed. It shure beets the heck out of watching a rock floating around in space. If this is future of Celestia I am very happy to see that Chris is chugging away at it.

Yeah I agree... if only because it would be nice to just switch comets 'on' all of a sudden. I'd also like to reiterate an earlier request for a similar on-off view option for ring shadows.

I have just installed 1.2.5 prerelease 2 today and everything seems to work fine, except the following:
I start the program, and when I go to full screen, the menu text dissapears (the menu is still there in structure, but without the font for the text). The menu is still functional assuming you know where to click in its structure. Going to a windowed mode does not help. You have to restart the application.
I have done this several times with the same results.
My system is a Dell Inspiron 8100, PIII 1.2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, WinXP Pro, with a GeForce4 440 Go 64 MB DDR Video, running DirectX 8.1 and the latest video drivers.
Regards,
Bogdan
