install?

Can you install more than one copy of Celestia on a computer at once? I want to have one copy with an addon for a fictional universe and one with other addons, because you can't have them both on the same copy for some reason.

True, many times there will be conflicts between different add-ons.

And yes, you can have multiple installations. On my main Celestia computer, I have seperate installations for Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, science fiction in general, Stargate, Thorvald's amazing add-ons, and a strictly scientific one. I also run an installation dedicated to my ArcBuilder add-ons from one of my pin drives.

Just be certain that you install the different instances in completely seperate folders!

i use a "stable"build as my main program and then slowly change over to the cvs ,if it's stable , so i as a norm run 2 versions a stable and a "unstable" .
Just re name the install dir (i am on win xp) to celestia-stable, or celestia-old , or whatever.

Cel urls try to invoke Celestia using its name and the name of the directory where it was installed. If you renamed the directory (folder) to be something else and didn't provide a new copy in a directory with the same name as the original directory, then the URLs can't find the program.

Two other ways to use a URL are to drag it onto Celestia's desktop icon, and to start Celestia first and then click on a URL.
