About Gateway Kokaubeam 2 and HD 28185 addons

What about Rassilon's Gateway Kokaubeam 2 and Don Edwards HD 28185 addons? Are they still not finished yet? I'm very curious about them.
And could Rassilon and Don Edwards show some pictures on what they are doing now?

The add-on HD 28185 is finished? I think that this add-on will never finish! And if it still not finished, than it'll take all eternity to end. Or I'm wrong? There are no more new pictures about this system or any news about it. Because of this I'm very worried. Also, it seems that Gateway Kokaubeam 2 will never be finished.
I think that the main reason for that is the complex and large textures.
I need to know about it. :(

kikinho, be more patient! The HD 28185 add-on promises to be one of the best Celestia add-ons ever. I know some people churn out add-ons like there's no tomorrow, but Don Edwards is free to take however long he wants in perfecting the add-on. Plus there's more to life than Celestia (gasp! blasphemy!) - people have other things to do. You don't hurry a work of art - if Michelangelo had had to rush the Sistine Chapel it wouldn't have been half as good.

For the time it is doing I think this will be the best add-on ever! Better than Ran system, I think! I also think it's because the textures are huge, so it needs much detail, work and patience, to be a perfect texture map. Also the pintch effect in poles, and, in my point of view, this is the most difficult part. I'm also doing my add-on and it'll take some time, there are many textures, but they're small (2048x1024), so it'll not take as many time as HD 28185 system.

I've made up a new saying:

"Ran wasn't built in a day"

All well made addons, like Ran: The Billow Maidens, take time.

I would know, it took me nearly 4 months to finish Lera and it looks like the Proxima Centauri solar system's going to take 3 1/2 months to finish. 8O

So we all just have to be patient. :)

Michael :)

PS: 2048x1024 sized textures are not that small! I used them all through Proxima Centauri and I found them to be quite detailed.

The HD 28185 add-on is in its final stages. I am in the process of migrating and renaming all the textures into a fresh install of Celestia for some final testing. I know it can frustrating to have to wait for something as long as everyone has waited for this update. At least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It?€™s not like the never ending wait for "Duke Nukem Forever" or something.
I did have to do some texture updating as new theoretical information about HD 28185B has come to light and I wanted to make the needed changes to be accurate. Unfortunately that means the beautiful dark orange-red texture for the planet has gone and replaced with a much lighter and bluer one in its place. There were several variants of that texture and I plan to release them as a new Gas Giant package.

BTW most of the textures are at the 4k level and some at 2k. There may be a few smaller ones namely for asteroids but I will probably go through and change those out with better ones. I may also cut a few corners here and there. I have already tapped into using some of jestr?€™s textures for some of the moons, by permission of course. This project just got to big and I was trying to get it moving. I still have to go into the 2 asteroid.ssc files and make a few changes for textures and models and there are allot of them. That is not even counting HD 28185?€™s counterpart to our Ort cloud.
I may post some more pictures soon.

Ah, never say never!!
Past texture releases, Hmm let me think about it

Thanks for your understanding.
