Just a quick question from the Brain-Dead...
Since I've been using Firefox as my main browser, I've found that I have
lots of trouble automatically signing into the forum. Others have reported
this, and I have tried all kinds of various setting with my cookies in order to
remedy this problem.
I seem to have discovered a cure, however, and I thought I'd ask what the
effect on the forum would be.
If I don't log OUT of the forum - in other words - if I simply close my browser
window, or travel to another location without logging out, I can get signed back
in automatically with no problems.
My question is this: If I simply continue to leave the forum without logging
out, does this cause any problem for the forum software? Or for other users?
Just thought I'd ask, because it is very nice not to have to keep
fiddling with logging back on twice, and then seeing that ALL of
the new messages have NOT been marked for my perusal.
Anyone have any ideas or comments about this practice?
Thanks, Bob

Bob,
that's perfectly fine. That's what most people do. I am also using FireFox under Linux.

Log out ? Oh yeah, I forgot you could do that. I think I could count the number of times I actually logged out on one hand. So I don't think it causes any problems if you do - I haven't had any, and I use both Firefox (at home) and the evil IE (the warped minds of the network guys at work think it's funny to force me to use Mickeysoft products).

Thank you both for the advice...
This fix works just fine now, and I simply love not having to mess with the
rigors of trying to understand what's going on here.
If this DOES cause a problem, please let me know about it though. Despite
my gruff exterior, I really do try to play by the rules.
Thanks again, Bob
