Go to the purgatory forum and find for "alien contact!!

I put this announcement here because in the purgatory forum I still didn't receive ANY message and there is more than 40 views. I'm starting to get worried! :(
I only put this announcement here because I want some answer. I also put in the forum that if you have any problems on downloading or transforming the JPG file format to WAV format, to send me a message, but NOBODY still yet sent me a message.
Please, I'm starting to get worried! :(

I don't want to sound rude, but don't you think everybody here can decide for himself what he finds interesting and what posts will be answered? No need to post four times. I for one have no interest in "alien" sounds.

In reality, these voices are from an unknown person speaking a new language that don't exist. I put this as alien voices because of the funny language that this person is speaking.

Kikinho, regarding Celestia, what's the reason for this post? 8O
Sorry, but with all my good will, I can't find one. :?

I'm really annoyed by all your posts, kikinho. Most of them don't have any relations to Celestia. This is a Celestia dedicated forum. SO PLEASE !!

The reason is that I want to implement some of these sounds in my next addon. Imagine you approaching a planet and hearing the alien voices in radio transmition. I think that will be very cool. 8)
In my next addon, I will try to create a script with these sounds. This script will show a description for each planet and moon in my next system and when approaching my earth like planet, these strange sounds will appear.
My next system will be even better than Rabud system. It's because Rabud is my first addon, and I still don't have much experience in creating textures. But now I'm getting better with textures and the orbits of asteroids will be much more realistic.
This sounds and this script are based on PULSAR SOUNDS, that is in scripting forum.

Could you please explain an ignorant like me, what I should or might do with your new "Rabud" system or its successor? To me it seems as if it all boils down to merely "painting balls" ;-) . Is it supposed to be art? Or do you hope to eventually make money with "Rabud" (never heard that word before...)? Is it for children to play?

Just educate me, please...

Jeez, Fridger, could you get any more patronising and condescending?!

I guess we should encourage everyone who creates a new system for Celestia the way you do, huh? That way we could turn Celestia back into the isolated community of developers that you'd like it to be and you wouldn't have to put up with all these annoying newcomers?

I mean, I know kikinho's been a little annoying with all his posts, but I think people have been coming down on him a little too hard I think. I don't know his background, or even how old he is, but why don't we cut him a little slack, huh?

Sheesh.

Dr. Evil,

I just wanted to express in a /less/ direct manner that
kikinho is sitting on my nerves. Too bad, I apparently failed again...

Since some time he is continuously spreading his stuff in in all our departments, despite mostly little or no relation to Celestia. In addition it seems that most people are not interested. Since other people /started/ to react, I thought I might add my opinion, too.

Is this now less patronising and condescending??

Dr. Evil wrote:I guess we should encourage everyone who creates a new system for Celestia the way you do, huh?

I can't remember that I ever created /new/ systems. I try to render some familiar ones from time to time and that as close as possible to observations.

Meanwhile 139474 people have visited or downloaded from my TextureFoundry site. That's not exactly an "isolated community of developers", right?

And so on...

Chris, how about locking this again? ;-)

Has anyone actually thought to send him a polite PM pointing out how things are done here? Selden - you're a mod, could you do something like that? Or do we really need a "how to act on these boards so you don't annoy anyone" sticky thread for newcomers to read?

Bully for you. Maybe if you churned out incredible looking new systems like some of the others you'd be a little more justified in sneering at him like that, but considering that you don't then the comment about "painting balls" was pretty damn unecessary.

Hey, you were the one complaining about all these annoying newcomers in another argument we had a while ago (I think that was about danielj, who is another poster you seem to have little tolerance for).

Well, I'm sure you'd like that more than being forced to apologise for how you react to people here when you're clearly in the wrong. Not that you ever do that anyway though. And you wonder why you keep getting into all these arguments here. Drop the damn superiority complex, Fridger - you're not better than everyone here.

Hell, you go out of your way to annoy me by calling me "Dr Evil" all the time. That shows a lot for your lack of maturity in itself.

Please, Evil Dr Ganymede and t00fri, calm down :)

Don't start a flame war, just because of some annoying kid.

Celestia is becoming more and more well known, and many more people will come here in the close future. So we could expect a lot of morons, weirdos and strange behaving people from all around the world. This is the price to pay for a free software. I was expecting some people like kikino, and really, this is pissing me off ! Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it, except maybe to use some harder behavior constrains in the forum. :(

Soon, the Celestia forum will see a huge amount of users from many countries. There are some other forums on the net (not Celestia related) where it's, literally, all cahos. Flame wars will happens here, like anywhere else.

We will see more and more addons from many people around the world, kids and grand m'mas, and most of those addons will be craps and shi*, poor quality custom modifications, and so on.

This is sad, but like what I've said, this is a price to pay for a free software.

I can see you've got a great view of people here too  They're not "morons, weirdos, strange behaving people", neither are they idiots.

They have a wide range of backgrounds, and not all are interested in the same thing that developers of Celestia are. That doesn't mean they should be patronised, sneered at, or yelled at for saying something that others think is annoying or stupid. There just isn't any need for that at all - politely pointing out their mistakes or that they should change their behaviour will work much better - what's more, they may actually learn something in the process. And if that doesn't work, then the moderators can deal with them.

As you said, this isn't a closed community. You have to expect that wide range of background, especially as the program becomes more and more popularised. But assuming right from the start that newcomers are annoying and irritating isn't going to help anyone.

Most of all, if you can't tolerate them, then don't comment. Ignore them. There are people here with greater patience that can deal with them more constructively. The rest can just stick to developing or whatever they do and let the others deal with them. That was the point I was trying to hammer into Fridger's skull last time this came up with danielj, and evidently it failed to get through then :(

That?s not sad... I would think enthusiasm was a good thing. Getting into Celestia, making addons, and how to behave on these forums all has a learning curve, and if some contributions are amatuerish to begin with, it does not mean really good stuff won?t come of it later. Not least because someones bad idea can give someone else a good idea. That?s how creativity works. Quality will always vary.

We have to expect, as you say, all kinds of people arriving here. It?s a bit like on usenet some ten years ago... If it becomes too much, we just need more moderators and more obvious rules for posting, that?s all.

Well said, Runar. And on that positive note, I think that it's time to lock this thread. :)
