Installed 1.3.1 from the SuSE 8.x RPM on the Celestia site.
Installed it with Yast without complaint
See no new menu item to launch Celestia so at command prompt type: celestia
Get following error code:
Celestia: relocation error: celestia: undefined symbol: __ti11MainWindow
At command prompt ran: ldd `which celestia|cut -d " " -f 3`
Got a long list of lib links. Do not see any "not found" in the list.
Don't know where to go from here.
Thanks,
Duane Wilson

IIRC "for SuSE 8.x" actually means for gcc < 3.x(?) and thus for SuSE 8.0/8.1.
Try these:
http://celestia.h-schmidt.net/rpm/
If you are using a recent version of KDE, you will still get a crash on exit - this should not be a problem if you are using the KDE-version which came with SuSE 8.x.

-Triied the version that came on my SuSE 8.2 distribution disk. That version crashed often so I gave up on it.

-- When I try to install this with rpm -ivh I get a dependency problem:
libGLcore.so.1
I don't know where to go to get this or if it is even a good idea.
