ok, so how do i install texture add-ons?

i have found no help/guide/thread that will work. can someone give me the idiots guide to installing texture add-ons? i am using win xp. every add-on i have is in dds format.

i might also add that it might be a good idia to install dx 9 sdk
it has a built in dds viewer and thumnail maker .

nvidas Adobe PhotoShop Normal Map and DDS Authoring Plug-ins are not bad (accauly it's very good) but the DDS Thumbnail Viewer for win. can crash your os , or it did ,i have not used it in a logn time.
