Add-ons and downloads not working - please help a new user!

Post #1by Grand_Admiral_Thrawn85 » 18.07.2002, 15:54

I've had Celestia for a few days now (downloaded it from gamershq.madonion.com) and think it is superb.

Now I've been rumaging around various websites and decided to download and install the 2002MN asteroid and the latest Voyager model.

Now my problem is that when I try to select the asteroid and spacecraft within Celestia, they're simply not there! Obviously something is not installing properly, but I can't figure out what it is! :?

e.g. When I downloaded the Voyager model, I extracted all of the files to the Models folder with the exception of the ssc file, which I extracted to the extras folder. This is what was said in the instructions, but did not seem to work. :(

My system is an Athlon XP 1.73GHz, GeForce 3 Ti500, Crucial 256 MB PC2100 DDR RAM, ABIT KR7A-RAID Motherboard, IBM Deskstar 60GXP and 75GXP 60GB and 30GB hard disk drives, etc.

Please help!

The Voyager add-on also has two .xyz files. These need to be in the "data" folder. In Celestia, press Enter and type either "Voyager 1" or "Voyager 2", without the quotes, and press Enter again to select the desired spacecraft. Then it's a simple Go To (press G).

As for 2002 MN, the new neo.ssc file should be in the extras folder. Then press Enter and type "2002 MN", again without the quotes.

Also, since you didn't download the program from shatters.net, you should make sure you're running version 1.2.4.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll try what you said. Knew I was missing something! :)
