You have to make Firefox familiar with the cel-mime type. This could be done in 'Tools->Options->Downloads->FileTypes'. But prior to that you will have to load the 'Mimetypes' Extention into Firefox - you should get it at the Firefox webpage.

Firefox can be expanded by several extentions. One of these is the 'Mimetypes' extention. You should download and install it. Then you can define your own kind of mimetypes. So just define a cel-mimetype then, and activate it in the firefox options.

Sorry to bring this back up a couple of days later but im still having trouble with cel urls. Im somewhat of a dim-wit compared to the scientists here(t00fri) and i need an exact, step by step guide on how to get this mimetypes extention... Ive been trying to do some of the avalible "educational activities" but most of them are based on cel urls . Its pretty hard haing to look at...

cel://Follow/Sol:Earth:Friendship7/1962 ... Lt6N+sc6j4
/////////w&ow=0.255816&ox=-0.597816&oy=0.572634&oz=0.499264&select=Sol:Earth:Friendship%207&fov=29.374989&ts=1.000000<d=0&rf=40855&lm=0

...and trying to figure out where to go and at what time...(okay, so its sortof easy but try figuring out the exact angle to view it at)

Once again any help would be greatly appreciated :?

Anonymous Guest,

Frank's Activities are based on Word documents, not HTML Web pages.
What program are you using to read Word documents?
Wordpad is not adequate.
You need at least WordViewer. It's downloadable for free from Microsoft at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=EN

OpenOffice should work, too, but I can't verify that right now.

I'm having no problems with the URL's in Frank's Word documents.
A single click starts Celestia and goes to the viewpoint.
However, this system has Word 2000 installed and
I have Firefox v0.9.1 configured as the default Web browser.

When I get home this evening (3-4 hours from now) I'll verify that WordViewer and OpenOffice work with Firefox 0.9.1.

Sorry,
I've been sure that I found it on the firefox extention page - but I couldn't find it there any more.
But you can get it from here http://gratisdei.com/FF.htm.

So download and install the 'Mime Type Editor v0.2'.
Then you will have a new entry 'Mimetypes...' in the 'Tools' Menu.
Open it and define a new mime type 'application/cel', description 'Celestia Script', extension 'cel', 'open with default application'.

That at least did it for me. If it still doesn't work, consider reinstalling (uninstall/install again) Celestia for a cleanup of the registry entries.

Pliskin,

make sure to enable ALL options at the install-wizard of Celestia!

There is an option according to activate scripts.

Lol, of course I did that

To Maxim and Selden,

I just went ahead and uninstalled it and installed pre8, cels are working fine now. All I have to do at the moment is go about adding all the extra files and add-ons I had accumulated.

thanks for your help

Well, you don't mention that you did that!
It was only a hint...
