2 installs
2 installs
I have celestia installed 2 times. One version I have all my hires textures and all the galaxies and nebula addons installed. The second install is default, no addons. Ivw been playing around with making movies with a movie maker program and I run it on the second one because the first one gets a little jumpy with all the addons. My question is how do I have 2 installs with different settings? the first I run in fullscreen mode, 1152x864 screen res, and the second in 800x600 because the movie program I use will only do 800x600. every time I switch from install 1 to install 2 it uses the settings I had when I closed the other. This may be wrong, but this is how I have it set up... in c/program files is the celestia folder. this the one with all the addons. the second, I made a folder in c/progamfiles called celestia light, and installed the other in this folder. I renamed the main celestia aplication file to celestia light, wasent sure if the computer would get the 2 mixed up. Any help on this would be apriciated!
As you have found out, in Windows, you can run Celestia from anywhere, and it will use the config file in that directory. However, when Celestia runs, it refers to the following Registry key for 15 parameters, which includes display type (full or window), window size and window location ...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Shatters.net\Celestia
Thus, all installations of Celestia refer to this single Registry key and will in fact run with the last used window type, size and location.
Hope this helps!
