I get a MSI Geforce FX 5700 TD128 128 MB DDR and now my computer is with 512 MB DDR333.Celestia runs at higher than 30 fps even when I toggle galaxies on and stars magnitude to 9.0.Celestia is now much faster and I can deal with files at least until level 9(I can see the Egypt Pyramids). Before that,Celestia was crashing when I try to put egypt in any level higher than 6(My old configuration was a Geforce 4 MX 440 SE 64 MB and 256 MB DDR256).The transitions are incerdibly fast, but something is getting me a little bored;I can?t have frame rates higher than 60 fps and don?t understand why.Even when I disable the galaxies and put stars magnitude to 5.8 or lower,I get 60.5 fps at maximum.Does Celestia limit the frame rate?I am using Celestia 1.3.1

Download "Refresh Force" to force all Fullscreen OpenGL/Direct3D Applications to use higher refresh rate then 60, custom mode for all resolutions. select 100 or 120hz if your monitor can support it.

Direct Download Link below:
http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/new/utilitie ... eforce.zip

There are also other apps that do the same, "HZ Tool" and etc.

if you get 60fps+- in "Celestia" even in "Window" Mode, then disable
Vertical Sync in the NVIDIA Display properties, De-select "Application-Controlled" and set it to "OFF"

PS. ad a few bucks and trade your GF 5700 128MB to a 256MB modell at the same store if you recently bought it, the extra 128mb is usefull when using alot of huge-hires textures at the same time in celestia insted of the slower-AGP texturing.

GL.
