More Extrasolar Planets?

Post #1by ajtribick » 01.12.2003, 18:13

As far as I've heard there are planets around Vega, Fomalhaut and Beta Pictoris, detected via computer modelling of the dust disks of these stars. I think Epsilon Eridani c was detected in this way, however why are these other planets not modelled?

Is there any orbital data I could use to expand extrasolar.ssc to include these?

They're not included because they're quite theoretical and their orbits seem quite uncertain.
On those grounds I really shouldn't have included Eps Eri c, either, and I confess I almost didn't - but I eventually adopted the principle of just using the Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia database as it stands.
Check out the relevant entries for Fomalhaut, Vega and Beta Pic at SolStation.com for information on their hypothesised planets.
