1.While zooming out of the milky way at really high speeds, the galaxies seem to come together(ie the labels), vanish and then start flickering at random points on the screen. THe whole time my motion was linear.
2. Why are the objects sometimes distorted at high FoV?

Same reason a fish-eye lens view is distorted - you're mapping a spherical view on to a flat surface, so the edges appear stretched out of shape.orion wrote:2. Why are the objects sometimes distorted at high FoV?

Celestia may be able to display vast distances, but it's not infinite, you know. It still has limits on how distant objects can be and still draw them properly. From the sound of it, you must have been several hundred billion light-years from the centre of the known universe - I think you're asking a bit too much
