Over at SpaceGraphics.com, the asteroid section has been updated
and now has downloadable 3d meshes and wallpapers of some of the bigger asteroids.

im looking forwards to some great textures too, hopfully soon.

Hmmm seems I can convert these great models to .3ds
but if i use them in Celestia, it wont wrap a texture around it :(

Paul...you can send me a model and texture if you like, and I will have a look.

I'm no great modeller, but I might be able to help on this. I find the more heads the better!

I'm away for all of next week, but, as Arnie says..."I'll be back..."

Regards bh.

Hmm in not sure what is wrong
I succesfully converted the model to .3ds, fine

but after that it just wont take a texture
I dont want to lock a texture to it (wich i cant do anyway)

the current 3d models of these asteroids can take any texture you tell it to in the ssc file.

but not when i edit the model, it seems

ill send you an example, thanks bh

Speaking of texture mapping, I created several asteroid models in Amorphium (Got a freebie version on a magazine once), and though the models look nice and irregular, the textures have a nasty jagged seam on one side.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
