Howdy All,
1) Sometimes, if I leave the main forum index list open in an Internet Explorer window (unattended), while using another instance of IE to browse something else, . . . the forum system marks all of the forums as read (no new messages), when there are in fact new messages in forums I haven't even opened in this session yet. My IE version is: version 6.00.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633, Cipher Strength: 128-bit (yep that's what it shows).
2) At other times, phpBB logs me off for no reason, without so much as a pop-up window notice, *during* an active, multi-instance session ... so I end up posting as "Guest". I've seen this one happen to a lot of folks besides me too.
Are there some work-arounds or other "personal" settings that I've missed somewhere?
3) Also, is there any way to print only the text of ONE message in a thread, without having to print the whole page, or use IE's "print selection" option, which also prints the graphic borders and stuff? I ask, because for about 6 months now, I've been a member in the Canopus Real-Time video editing forum (http://forum.canopus.com/ubbthreads.php?Cat=) which uses "UBB.threads™ 6.2", from:
(http://www.infopop.com/products/ubbthreads/poweredby_ubbthreads.html), and it seems to work flawlessly and has many very nice options in it. No, it's not free (unfortunately) but maybe some of us could get together to pitch in and buy it? Just a thought <smile>.
Thank you,
-Don

That's why I always go straight into "view posts since last visit", and then open each topic in a new window (shift+click) in case IE screws up...1) Sometimes, if I leave the main forum index list open in an Internet Explorer window (unattended), while using another instance of IE to browse something else, . . . the forum system marks all of the forums as read (no new messages), when there are in fact new messages in forums I haven't even opened in this session yet.
How long have you left your session without clicking anything...? I always have 2 or 3 windows open & while i'm waiting for 1 to load i read the others (a slight benefit of dialup...?!!)2) At other times, phpBB logs me off for no reason, without so much as a pop-up window notice, *during* an active, multi-instance session ... so I end up posting as "Guest". Yeah that's easy.... just hightlight some text inside only one post, and print>print selection. If you go over one border it prints every border that's the bad thing...

Duhhh, I've not tried that link yet, even though I have noticed it. Thanks Jack <smile>.JackHiggins wrote:That's why I always go straight into "view posts since last visit"
I couldn't tell you. It's happened a couple of times when I've gotten side-tracked, like right-clicking on someone's Celestia links. How long have you left your session without clicking anything...?
Yep, me too. Got into the habit before we got DSL a couple months ago. phpBB or shatters.net is not always the fastest either, so doing this still helps speed things along.I always have 2 or 3 windows open & while i'm waiting for 1 to load i read the others (a slight benefit of dialup...?!!)
... and print>print selection.
That's what I meant by "IE's Print Selection option". None of the poster information, date, links, etc. are printed when doing this <sigh>.
Thanks for the tip Jack.

MyIE2 (http://www.myie2.com/) is another nice "IE Skin", or "enhancement", or whatever you want to call them.
I like to stick with the basics and have full control over each instance. I've tried the multi-view enhancements and if it's code crashes, you lose every single site you had open. So, I just keep it simple <smile>.
