Earth cloudmap as DDS?

I've tried making a 8192x4096 cloudmap for Earth as a DDS file with no success so far. In Photoshop the channels were set up exactly as in the PNG, but when I export it as DDS (either as DXT1<no alpha> or as DTX3 <explicit alpha>) all I get in Celestia is flat (opaque) white.

Is it possible to use a DDS for the cloudmap at all in Celestia at the moment? Has anyone succeeded in doing this?
Cheers,
Paul

Current version of Celestia can handle properly of dds-clouds up to 2k. At least on my rig. Clouds are in alpha channel, therefore should be compressed with dxt3. But I can show 8k clouds using big png file. In this case loading time is enormus, and i even can`t see the difference in quality.
