Eta Cass/nebulas

Post #1by Blacklist » 27.02.2003, 08:00

I was building solar systems based on stars within 20 lightyears of Sol and one listed everywhere I checked was Eta Cass. It is supossed to be at only 19 LY from Sol but in Celestia it is 1114Ly away. Whos wrong here? Or is it just not the same star?

Is there an addon with nebulas that is available anywhere?

Celestia is wrong :( - Eta Cas is only 19ly away. There's an error in the radius given by Celestia, too - as a G-type dwarf, its radius should be comparable to the Sun's.

It's fixed in Celestia 1.3.1pre3. I tightened up the parallaxes in stars.dat for stars within 25ly of the Sun.

I have Celestia 1.3.0, and I found the same problem with Eta Cassiopeia. It's at about 1400 ly from Sol, instead of 19.

If that's a problem for you, either upgrade to the current pre-release, or download the current stars.dat from the CVS tree.

Fixed it now with the CVS stars.dat. Thanks!
