A "General" Forum

General discussion about Celestia that doesn't fit into other forums.

Should we have a "General Talk" forum, where the visitors could talk and discuss whatever they want?

A "General" Forum

Post #1by Borg Collective » 18.06.2003, 20:45

These forums could be even more interesting and fun (irrelevant for the Collective) if we ("Celestians") had a type of "General" Forum for discussing and talking about other things besides Celestia (as long as you don't neglect Celestia Image. Give yourself a thought about this and cast your vote. It will be all up to Chris then...

Also, if you don't know what to choose or you're just curiois, visit these forums... Those are Forums of the Game Homeworld and contain a General Discussion Forum...

I'd much rather there wasn't a 'general' forum. Too many times have I seen such places devolve into endless flame wars as people suddenly find a lot more things to argue about, disagree with, and misinterpret (especially when it comes to politics).

Some individual created a thread unrelated to Celestia which ended being locked very fast.

I think the forum works well the way it is. For the most part we all get along. :) Sure there is an occasional heated topic and sometimes we go off topic but for the most part I like the way things are. I feel as long as we keep to Celestia and to ideas and lines of thought that parallel the program and astronomy we will be just fine. Maybe a topic of general astronomy would be ok because it goes right along with what Celestia is all about. That’s my thinking on this issue.

I just added a new physics and astronomy forum on the board, but I don't foresee adding a general discussion forum. There are plenty of other places on the internet for random chit-chat, and to be frank, I'd rather die in a fire than deal with the drama that inevitably plagues chat boards and their moderators.

Hmm, the poll questions currently show up as being a fair bit less than perfect!

There will be a general discussion on my celestial visions forums when I get those back online...It will of course be a private board save for topics related to Celestia...Basically like it was...

This thread lost it's purpose with post of the individual designated as "Chris".
Efficiency is relevant. There is no efficiency in consuming time over something worthless.
