Red square on center

Post #1by Guest » 17.06.2003, 01:35

Whenever I click on a "cel" link, all my options disappear and are replaced by the options of whover created the "cel" link. Now, how do I stop this from happening? Even when I close and then re-open Celestia, my options are all gone.

Because of this, now I have a red square on the center of my screen at all times. I guess it represents my selected object, how do I get rid of it?

thanks

Please read the "user's faq" at the top of this forum. It's Q11.

yes, i know the answer. now its not possible, as i know. so you will have to:
-not use cel:// url's
or
-put all your options again when you finish using them.

Using the (KDE) CVS version you can use settings bookmarks for this.

Bookmarks -> Add Settings Bookmark

Then to assign a shortcut to it, place it in the Bookmark Toolbar, and go to Settings -> Configure Shortcuts.

I just want to simply add that Ctrl-K shows/hides markers (basically the red square) in Windows. I think it's the same for the linux version but I didn't check it yet.

Ok, well thanks, I'll just quit using the "cel" links.

maybe it would be a good idea, in a future version, to add the possibility to prevent cel links from messing up a user's default options.

It's annoying to have to fix all the options again each time

Maybe we could stop them messing with the observer position and time setting as well!

More seriously I've offered implementing sticky settings in the past but I've had very little feedback on it. Having a quick way to restore the favorite settings seemed to be the prefered solution for most, that's what settings urls are for.
